Role Overview:We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Resistance Materials Teacher to join our dynamic team at a thriving school in Woking. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated educator to make a lasting impact in the Design and Technology department, teaching Resistant Materials to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role is initially offered on a temporary basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and innovative lessons in Resistant Materials, ensuring high-quality teaching that meets the needs of all learners.
- Teach students the principles of design, construction, and manufacturing using various materials such as wood, metal, and plastics.
- Foster creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills through hands-on projects and theoretical teaching.
- Prepare students for assessments, coursework, and examinations in line with the national curriculum and exam board requirements.
- Manage a safe and efficient workshop environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to students to help them achieve their academic goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Design and Technology department to share best practices and resources.
- Participate in departmental meetings, extracurricular activities, and school-wide initiatives to enrich the learning experience.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other stakeholders to support student development.
Person Specification:Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, or significant teaching experience in Design and Technology, specialising in Resistant Materials.
- Proven experience teaching Resistant Materials at Key Stages 3 and 4 (experience with Key Stage 5 is desirable but not essential).
- Strong subject knowledge in materials, design processes, and practical construction techniques.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
